Stress & Fatigue

Lifestyle has a huge impact on your health. If you are stressed out, not sleeping well, and not nourishing yourself with good food and fun, then you can't function at your best.

Make A Change

Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine has a long and rich history of highly effective herbal formulas that have been used for thousands of years to treat anything from the common cold to chronic disease. Chinese herbs are rarely taken individually, they are traditionally combined with other herbs into formulas, creating a synergistic action, which enhances their effectiveness and moderates any potential side effects.

Herbal medicine can enhance your overall vitality and sense of wellbeing.

Chines Tonic Herbs can be taken regularly to improve your quality of life even when you aren't dealing with a specific health issue. Many Chinese Tonics fall into a very unique category of herbs called adaptogens. Like their name implies, adaptogens help the body adapt to the multitude of mental and physical stressors encountered on a daily basis; including environmental toxins, mental-emotional stress, and physical fatigue. Adaptogens also have the ability to adapt their therapeutic actions to the body's unique needs, providing it with the resources to maintain homeostasis, and promote physical and mental wellbeing.

Individual customization is a tremendous strength of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Customizing the treatment to fit the individual, whether it is acupuncture or herbal medicine, greatly enhances it's therapeutic effectiveness. At Maui Health and Wellness, we take traditional Chinese formulas and customize them to give the individual the greatest benefits.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine is both a science and philosophy of health and healing that developed over 2,000 years ago through the observation of nature. Living closer to nature and being more exposed to the elements of weather, the ancient sages and healers were very aware of our intimate connection with the planet and the environment. By living, breathing, and eating from our environment, we are literally made from the material of our environment. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the human body is viewed as a miniature version or "microcosm" of the planet we live on. The same fundamental substances or elements in nature also exist in the human body: air, water, fire, earth and ether. Like the planet, our bodies are over 75% water. We have an internal fire or heat in the form of metabolism and other cellular processes. As in nature, in the human body there is a fine balance that must be maintained between the elements. If there is too much heat or sunlight plants begin to shrivel and die. If a river stops flowing the stagnant water begins to harbor disease. Traditional Chinese Medicine uses the basic laws of nature as they relate to the human body, and applies therapies such as acupuncture and herbal medicine to help restore the fundamental flow and balance of the energy and substances, or elements, within the body.

Stress, Fatigue, and Chronic Disease

Traditional Chinese Medicine, through the use of Acupuncture, Herbs, Diet, and Lifestyle modifications, can help you break the cycle of stress and fatigue. Too many of us are living at the edge of wired but tired; stuck in a cycle of insomnia, disrupted sleep, or simply not enough sleep, and compensating by over-caffeinating. When stress disrupts sleep patterns it can lead to a cycle of mental and physical fatigue, hormonal imbalances, and a weakened immune system, which eventually takes it's toll on the system. Sleep plays an important role in healing, rejuvenation, and vitality. Energy, strength, and vitality also come from the food you eat, and more specifically from the nutrition your body is able to absorb from that food. If you have digestive issues that prevent you from adequately digesting and absorbing nutrients from the food you eat, then your body can't function optimally and you may experience fatigue, foggy thinking, and general malaise. If you haven't been feeling your best, or functioning in optimal health, break the cycle today. Acupuncture and herbal medicine can bring back your energy and create deep healing.
